YEG Lunch & Learn NECB
This lunch & learn will include a brief summary of the evolution of energy codes in North America leading up to today’s National Energy Code for Buildings which is being widely adopted across Canada. This presentation will explain the importance of energy codes and the role they can play in managing building energy costs. In addition to providing a general description of how the NECB works, including key design elements to consider in an energy efficient building, the course explains how code compliance can be achieved using one or more of three compliance options.

Presented by Dean Turgeon, 3D Energy
Dean is the President and CEO of 3D Energy. He brings expertise in mechanical system design and project management in commercial, institutional and industrial projects. Under his management and direction. Dean is also active in governance and executive positions in several professional organizations, working to bring commercial and public interests together. He was recently recognized as Technologist of the Year for 2010.
Dean has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to advancing design and construction in Alberta. He has organized committees of professionals to improve the practice of engineering design and technology. He has contributed to the standardization and regulation of new technologies. He has worked with his clients on long range economic forecasting of design alternatives and exposing hidden costs related to long-term ownership not typically considered in initial designs.
Dean is broadening perspectives to see energy as an agent for community development and commercial success.
