Event description

Description

The event will be bilingual. Visit www.ylit.ca for more info.

50% of young ladies in grades 7-9 say they would consider a future in computer science, from grades 10-12 that decreases to 2%. In 2016 18% of computer science university graduates were female.

You can't be what you can't see. We want to help curb this trend and we believe we can help do that by exposing young ladies to great role models in technology early on.

With the help of inspiring female role models for young ladies in technology this event is an opportunity to expose young ladies in Quebec (ages 10 and up) to these amazing accomplished women.

Speakers will touch on areas such as current state of women in tech, computer science, software engineering, machine intelligence. Our amazing role models include

  • Layla El Asri - Microsoft Research
  • Sylvie LaPerriere - Google
  • Natacha Mainville - TandemLaunch
  • Anika Caban - Cofomo
  • Dina Osman - Ocean Wide
  • Akriti Saini - Concordia
  • Dulce Cayetano - ETS
  • Yawen Hou - Polytechnique

YLIT will be giving away a limited number of tech summer camp certificates organized by Grandir Sans Frontière at YLIT Montreal on the Nov 19th to young ladies that attend.

Grandir Sans Frontière will also be providing hands on tech activities during YLIT Montreal for young ladies that want to dive in and get their tech on !!

A big thank you to Grandir Sans Frontière and our sponsors, Google, Element AI and TandemLaunch for their enthusiastic support of young ladies in tech and YLIT Montreal.

This event is meant to be accessible to young women and there parents/gaurdians so it will be on a "no school day", yes a sunday :)
