Event Details

Ever wonder what is missing in your yoga? You go to a class, you do DVDs at home, but something seems lacking, like you could take this deeper...but how? Traditionally, yoga postures (asana) were taught as part of a system to provide physical and mental support as part of one's spiritual practice. What does this mean if you are a practicing Muslim? Can you do classical yoga and make it part of your practice? YES! In this workshop, the teacher will introduce you to the system of Classical Yoga that incorporates physical postures, breathing practices and devotional practices in a short, simple format that is compatible with the Islamic lifestyle you can practice at home.

Participants will need:
Yoga mat
Towel, small blanket or large shawl (for meditation, & relaxation poses)
Yoga blocks (optional)
Notebook
Wear comfortable clothing you can stretch & move in
NO RECORDING DEVICES ALLOWED (camera, video & audio)

Course outline:
Introduction to Classical Yoga and its non-religious origins.
Introduction to the practice format & its structural foundations
Chanting - dhikr
Yogic Breathing - pranayama
Quiet Mindfulness - meditation
Yoga Asana - postures with mindfulness
Rest & Repose - letting it all sink in.

Please Note:

Tickets are limited and will be $25 at the door, so act now!
