About Hatha Yoga
Feeling out of balance, stressed, or disconnected? Hatha Yoga offers a powerful way to restore harmony between your body, mind, and spirit. This rejuvenating class combines traditional yoga poses, breathwork, and meditation to help you reconnect and find inner peace.
Hatha Yoga is the most widely practiced form of yoga in the West, and its meaning comes from the words "ha" (sun) and "tha" (moon), representing the balance of opposing forces within us. In yoga, the sun and moon are simple representations of our physiology, namely the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems—key players that govern our stress response. This style of yoga works to balance your nervous system—represented as the sun and moon energies in the body, male and female polarities, yin and yang, also left and right sides of the body.
We’ll begin with mindful breathing techniques then move on with physical yoga poses (asanas), designed to prepare the body and mind for meditation. The goal is to ease into a state of meditation—free from physical discomfort or mental distraction. Hatha also means "to exert force"—that real change requires effort. It teaches us that transformation begins when we commit to the work, both in our yoga practice and in our lives.
Through synchronized movement, breath, and brief periods of relaxation, you will develop a deep meditative focus that cultivates unity between body, mind, and spirit. This harmony is the true essence of yoga—a practice that empowers you to restore balance, reduce stress, and achieve inner peace.
