Calgary’s Municipal Election is happening in just a few weeks, on October 18th. Making Waves is hosting mayoral candidate Jyoti Gondek at an exclusive backyard gathering. If you are double vaccinated and want to have the opportunity to hear from and talk Jyoti, please join us. This upcoming election is the most important election in a generation, and each vote will help determine the future of our city for decades.
Making Waves is a grassroots organisation that is centred on gender-equality and encourages women, especially young women (14-20) to speak up. On September 23rd meet Jyoti Gondek in an exclusive and intimate backyard gathering (just 30 spots!) and join other women and men who believe in gender equality, speaking up and making a difference.
Jyoti is a woman of colour who loves making waves. She has been unequivocal on issues of racism, calling out our Premier and his party. She has challenged fellow councillor Jeromy Farkas on his unprogressive views on parental leave (he is the only councillor who voted against parental leave). Jyoti recognizes that the Climate Crisis is a priority. She is speaking out about the need for vaccine passports, and supports students and parents who are concerned about the 4th pandemic wave. She also has ambitious and specific plans to re-invigorate Calgary through integrating issues of climate, business, innovation, vulnerable citizens and more.
We welcome all women, non-binary and gender non-conforming individuals, and, for the first time ever, men. If you self identify as someone who would benefit from these conversations, we would love for you to join.
