Youth Building Resilient Communities
Mon, 27 February 2017, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM MST
The Alberta Resilient Communities (ARC) Research Project (University of Calgary; Royal Roads University; Mount Royal University) in partnership with the City of Calgary and the ResiliencebyDesign Research Innovation Lab (RbD) are supporting local youth action on disasters and climate change.
ARC is a 3-year research project funded by Alberta Innovates Health Solutions and focused on understanding and strengthening child and youth resilience and youth citizen engagement in disaster preparedness, risk reduction, and resilience in Alberta. Youth from Calgary, High River, and the Foothill regions have designed innovative projects that address disaster and climate change-related problems relevant to their communities. They have been focused on building passionate ‘pitches’ related to their projects, in hopes of refining their stories, their challenges, and their proposed solutions.
This event will provide youth space to present their pitches and ideas to potential mentors and supporters, so that they may mobilize their ideas collaboratively, and also get feedback from an interested and eager audience! Light refreshments will be served.
Do you have the experience, capacity, and/or resources to help? Or do you simply want to learn more? If so, please join us for a night of innovative pitches and community conversations about resilience!
