Youth Dialogue CSW62

The Youth Dialogue at CSW62 will build on the successes and lessons learned of the past two Youth Forums organized at CSW60 and CSW61. As on previous occasions, the Youth Dialogue will mirror the theme of the official session of the Commission on the Status of Women (to be held in New York from 12 to 23 March 2018) in order to advance critical dialogue on the persisting structural and systemic challenges to achieving the full rights and empowerment of young rural women, girls and trans youth.

The goal is to continue building a cohort of young leaders who are part of a global movement that advances gender equality and sustainable development.

The Youth Dialogue will be a space for discussion on how young rural women and girls can thrive as leaders and be supported to overcome structural barriers they face, and also identify what policies and practices are required to tackle these barriers. Discussion will also include the participation and access of young women and girls to media, information and communications technologies, and their impact on and use as instruments for advancement and empowerment.

We would like to ensure that we are true to Leaving No One Behind during CSW62, and make certain that the voices of those most affected are centred in the Youth Dialogue. We aim to reflect the realities and priorities of those most affected and work to ensure that local experiences inform our work. We want to make sure that the participant cohort represents a diversity of experiences, constituencies, priority issues, and areas of work.

Registration through this Eventbrite form does not guarantee a ticket to the event. The Youth Dialogue Task Force will review all the applications and select participants according to the agreed selection criteria, prioritizing participation of young rural women from underserved and marginalized communities.

Only selected participants will receive a confirmation letter that they must present before entering the event.
