With a focus on youth aged 15-29, this event will focus on engaging youth and adult allies in building the change that youth want to see in the Sault and area and that youth identified at the Youth Engagement Forum 2014 -

Marie Innovation Centre in conjunction with Vive Consulting are providing this exceptional event to celebrate and build youth-related infrastructure, supports and activities in the Sault and Area.  Partners include youth members, the Mayor’s Office Mill Square, Vive Inc., Algoma District School Board, Huron Superior Catholic Disctrict School Board, Sault College, Social Enterprise Evolution – NORDIK, Algoma University, Sault Community Career Centre, Awesome Youth from Youth Social Infrastructure, Indian Friendship Centre, Strive Young Professionals, Algoma Youth Engagement Network – Algoma Public Health, Thinking Rock Community Arts, Imagine Design, 8:56, Crank Sound, and Start-Up Sault.  Other organizations are welcome to contribute!

9:30 a.m. Keynote

Inspirational Opening on the Power of Youth, David Jones, Turtle Concepts

 

10:15 a.m. Break (visit vendor booths)

 

10:15 a.m. Entrepreneurship Challenge - youth interested in participating in this simulation can attend this segment of the forum.

 

10:30 a.m. Community Champion Presentations

 

10:45 a.m. Open Space 

Youth will be engaged in fun explorative activities to identify the great things they want to see in SSM and we will work together to start building them.


12:15 p.m.         Lunch and Refreshments Provided                      

12:45 p.m.         World Café Continues           

1:15 p.m.           Reports Back - Youth Topics 

2:30 p.m.           Break (secondary students catch buses)                      

2:45 p.m.           Reports Back - Youth Supports Topics Areas (i.e., Adult Allies) and Entrepreneurship Challenge

3:15 p.m.           Close and Celebrate (Next Steps)

Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC)

The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) was established in 1999 to function as a catalyst for economic development and diversification in the information technology and knowledge based sectors. SSMIC is focused on four core areas; operating a business incubator to encourage the establishment and growth of business start ups; providing support services to the SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) technology and science community; supporting the establishment and enhancement of advanced research projects in the region and undertaking strategic market development projects such as the highly successful GIS project. SSMIC operates an award-winning GIS department that has been recognized internationally for its unique community information utility model and advanced work in the health and human services sector.
