About this event
Student Legal Services of Edmonton is made up of law students from the University of Alberta. Law students provide free legal information to everyone and free legal assistance for some civil, criminal, family, and human rights law matters to low-income Edmontonians. Student Legal Services does not provide legal advice.
The Youth Rights and the Justice System presentation provides an overview on youth rights when interacting with the criminal justice system. Topics include when the police can stop you, when the police can arrest you, your rights upon arrest, when the police can search you, being released after being stopped, detained, or arrested, making a complaint against the police, and criminal records. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask general questions and be given helpful resources and referrals for youth navigating the criminal justice system.
