Event description

Description

We are proud to present, for the first time in Ottawa, Bea Johnson - the founder of the Zero Waste Lifestyle.

NU - Ottawa’s new zero waste grocery store - will be hosting Bea’s inspirational talk and Q&A in partnership with downtown City Councillors Chernushenko, McKenney, Leiper, Fleury and Nussbaum, EnviroCentre and ÉcoLead.

The event will take place on Tuesday April 18 at the First Baptist Church at the corner of Elgin and Laurier Street in downtown Ottawa.

Schedule: 6:30 Doors Open / 7:00 Welcome followed by Bea’s Talk and Q&A / 8:45 Closing remarks by Councillor David Chernushenko, Chair of the Environment and Climate Protection Committee / 9:00 Networking / 9:30 Event Closes

About Bea: Bea and her family are dedicated to living a zero waste lifestyle; they generate a mere jar of waste per year. With her passion and positive outlook, Bea launched a global movement and has become the spokesperson for the zero waste lifestyle, or, as The New York Times puts it, “The Priestess of Waste-Free Living”.

She shatters misconceptions, proving that waste-free living can not only be "stylish", but also lead to significant health benefits, and time and money savings. She regularly speaks at conferences, has earned appearances on TV and in publications around the world, and is the author of the bestselling book Zero Waste Home (translated into 14 languages).

Note: This is a not-for-profit event made possible by the financial support of Councillors Chernushenko, McKenney, Leiper, Fleury, Nussbaum and NU Grocery, Ottawa’s new zero waste grocery store. Ticket price was calculated to break even. If we sell more tickets than expected, proceeds will be donated to the Ottawa Food Bank.
