Event description
Zine School is part educational lecture and part hands-on workshop.

About this Event

Interested in creating your own Zine? Asking yourself, what’s a Zine? Well, a Zine is a small-circulation self-published work of original or appropriated texts, images, illustrations, usually reproduced via photocopier. Zines are often homemade and usually devoted to specialized and often unconventional subject matter.

Zines can be anything!

Zine School is part educational lecture and part hands-on workshop. You’ll be taught by our very own Zine Queen, Stacey Bru. They're also the manager of Recess, and have been teaching, writing, talking about, and creating these amazing publications for years (wait until you see their collection!).

In Zine School you will learn:

+ Brief History of zine-making

+ How to make / print your own zine

+ What to put in your zine

+ Zine distribution / trading

Zine school may also teach you:

+ How to unleash your creativity

+ How to take ownership of your art practice

+ How to share your creativity with the world

+ How to start and complete and art project

“A zine is a publication made purely out of passion!"

Things you can make in a zine about:

+ Poetry

+ Visual Art

+ Collage

+ Stories

+ Recipes

+ DIY Guides

+ Personal memories / thoughts

Included in the workshop are all the materials to get your zine started, and you’ll go home with most of them to keep creating!

Materials include:

+ Dust-free eraser

+ Recess pencil

+ 6” ruler

+ Glue stick
