Description

The Third Teacher – Creating an Effective Classroom

In this workshop, educators will explore the critical link between the learning environment and how
children learn. Educators will be presented with research-based practical strategies and design ideas for
the improvement and enhancement of classrooms. Educators will engage in discussion surrounding the
environment as an essential part of the learning process. Developmental ages of children will be
presented along with potential design ideas for classrooms. Educators will have the chance to collaborate
with other colleagues and develop ideas for creating learning environments which are welcoming,
authentic, natural, and culturally representative. Educators will learn how to thoughtfully and intentionally
choose materials for the classroom which foster creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills,
experimentation and open-ended play. Educators will leave the workshop with practical strategies and
design ideas for their own educational facilities
