Action for Venezuela

Action for Venezuela is a group of Venezuelans living in Vancouver, who care deeply for their country and are looking for meaningful ways to help Venezuelan refugees all over the world.

Action for Venezuela is fundraising on behalf on the United Nations Refugee Agency.

Over 5,000 Venezuelan migrants are crossing into neighbouring countries daily, about 200 people per hour.

According to Human Rights Watch, “The political, economic, human rights and humanitarian crises in Venezuela combine to compel Venezuelans to leave and make them unable or unwilling to return. Some qualify for refugee status. Others do not, but would face severe hardship if returned to Venezuela and are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance in the countries to which they have migrated”.

The Organization of American States predicts that the number of displaced Venezuelans could reach as high as 8 million by 2020. It is considered that the flow of Venezuelan migrants is similar in magnitude and speed to other episodes that led to massive migrant and refugee crises in other parts of the world as a result of armed conflicts, such as in Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia and South Sudan.

Did you know that $5,000 per person are destined for Syrian refugees whereas for Venezuelans is less than $300 per person?
