BC Touring Council

The BC Touring Council exists for successful and sustainable performing arts touring and presenting in British Columbia. It offers a variety of services through its website bctouring.org including directories, resources and e-newsletters. BCTC’s flagship event is its annual showcase and booking conference, Pacific Contact.

About The Conference - Pacific Contact features showcases of artists from all disciplines, a tradeshow with booths for artists and agent/managers to facilitate tour booking, workshops and meetings, networking and social events.

Pacific Contact 2018 takes place April 5 to 8. Conference activities (workshops, meetings, trade show, meals, accommodation, etc.) take place at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown in Burnaby. Showcases take place at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.

Who Comes and Why? Presenters come to Pacific Contact to book performances for audiences in their communities. They book on behalf of organizations, schools, festivals and facilities. They attend showcases at Pacific Contact to experience artists “live – on stage”. They get to see who is in the marketplace and the level of artistry available for touring.Artists, Agents and Managers come to sell shows, book tours and to network with colleagues.Everyone attends for the professional development opportunities including workshops, special meetings, presentations, as well as for the networking, and hospitality.

Funding & Awards: The BC Touring Council delivers provincial funding in partnership with the BC Arts Council. The Community Presenters Assistance program (CPA) offers awards to assist non-profit community organizations that present British Columbian and Canadian professional performing arts touring events.

The Community Presenter Youth Engagement is a program created as part of the Province of BC’s Creative Futures Strategy. The intention of this program is to remove barriers to participation in the performing arts for young people and family audiences throughout the province.

BCTC also delivers a component of the Creative Futures Strategy in partnership with the BC Arts Council. The Aspiring Emerging Artists Touring & Training Initiative is intended to build creative skills and capacity in performing arts touring and presenting for aspiring and emerging artists.
