#BiggerThanHockey Campaign - Algonquin College Public Relations Students

Established in 1989, the Algonquin Public Relations program (ACPR) prepares studentsto work in the communications field through a combination of theoretical and practicallearning experiences. Over the course of its 30-year history, its student-led fundraisingand awareness campaigns have contributed more than $300,000 towards supportingcharities in the Ottawa community. Not only does this support our community’sgrowth, it also gives the students hands on experience in planning and executing events.

The students of the ACPR program have worked with over 34 Ottawa charities, raisingboth awareness and funds. This year, the program was awarded the Ottawa SocialImpact Award and its students were recognized as future innovative leaders.

This year’s ‘Bigger Than Hockey” campaign will include five exciting events open to thepublic throughout the month of July and aims to raise awareness and $15 000 in supportof the Capital City Condors.
