Why Do We Need A Centre for Peace and Justice?

We live in an age of increasing political and economic instability.  More and more political leaders and extremist groups across the globe now routinely feed on this instability to scapegoat and demonize, divide and conquer. What path will we as Albertans take in this time of uncertainty?  Will we unite as a province and use our diversity as a strength? Will we draw on our collective wisdom to build a fairer, more equitable and prosperous future together?  Or will we succumb to the forces of division and hatred? Now, more than ever, we need a vision for a better future. Help us make Alberta and Canada models for peace and justice in the world today.

The Vision for Alberta

A province where every community is welcoming, inclusive and compassionate, and every individual is respected.

The Mission

To promote inclusive and harmonious communities that respect the rights and dignity of of all through education and dialogue.

The Approach

Our approach is to build bridges between diverse cultures, estranged social groups and political adversaries. We believe that communities prosper when diverse traditions, social practices, and visions of the good are allowed to thrive. We believe that dialogue and collaboration empower individuals to move beyond their private interests, flourish as active citizens, and contribute to the collective wisdom, economic prosperity and spiritual wellbeing of their communities.
