City Kidz Ministries Ottawa
OUR MISSION
CityKidz is a grassroots movement that began in Hamilton, Ontario in 1994 to reduce poverty in Canada. 20 years later, we have three branches and are currently reaching well over 2,500 children each week. We are a movement of hope, for children. We inspire kids to look forward to their future and dream big. Through our proven programming, we reach out to children individually as, and where, we can. As we build our relationship with them, we also provide programming for all stages of their youth, that will help to guide them to become emotionally healthy, and contributing adults. It’s these adults that will change our city and then our nation, for the better. Crime rates will go down, poverty will be reduced and children who had no hope for their future will be living an adult life filled with possibilities.
HOW WE'RE DOING IT IN OTTAWA
Ever since our doors opened in Ottawa, in the fall of 2010, children between the ages of 6 and 12 get on a free CityKidz Ministries bus to attend the Saturday Playhouse that presents a life-changing message of hope. Starting with 19 children from the Overbrook area in September 2010, CityKidz now has over 100 plus children registered. Amidst all the fun, songs and games that the Saturday Playhouse provides, we are helping to break the poverty cycle in the lives of the children who attend. Through our one-on-one role-modeling and practical, dynamic teaching, utilizing songs, games and zany antics, CityKidz Ottawa effectively builds hope and creates a place for faith to grow empowering children to "do what's right" and follow their dreams. CityKidz Ottawa is funded solely by concerned citizens like yourself.
