Congress of Black Women Ontario Region
Founded by Kay Livingstone in 1973, the Congress of Black Women of Canada (CBWC) is a national non-profit organization with chapters across Canada. The organization is dedicated to improving the lives of Black women and their families in their local and national communities.
The Congress of Black Women of Canada - Ontario Region provides leadership and coordination among all CBWC Ontario Chapters. With a focus on Kay Livingstone’s vision to assist Black women and their families, we collaborate to deliver programs and events that address education, health, housing and human rights. There are seven CBWC Chapters operating in the following Ontario cities: Ajax/Pickering, Brampton, London, Mississauga, Oshawa/Whitby, Scarborough and Waterloo. Membership is open to Black women 16 years of age and over, who accepts the mission, vision and objectives of the Congress. Membership in the organization is through one of our regional chapters.
