Curvy Girls Scoliosis Support Groups are peer lead support groups empowering pre-teens and teens to become leaders, make healthy lifestyle choices and improve self-esteem by diminishing the emotional impact of scoliosis.
Curvy Girls Ottawa seeks to help teens find their voice through support and acceptance.
Curvy Girls Scoliosis Support Groups were founded in 2006 by then-14-year-old Leah Stoltz of Long Island, New York. Today, there are over 80 Curvy Girls chapters around the World.
In September 2011, the first Curvy Girls Support Group in Canada held its first meeting. Since then this group and its members have provided support for 100's of families through events, monthly meetings, and visiting in hospitals. CGO with partnership with CHEO arranged 2 family information nights and 2 webinars for primary health care providers which was hosted through CHEO Outreach program. Scoliosis Awareness, screening and early detection and treatment is key in avoiding spinal fusion surgery.
Help us raising awareness so we can eliminate the 32% of late diagnosis and educate the public about the sign and symptoms of scoliosis. No child should be diagnosed late with your help.
We are always in need for volunteers and support.
