Dot The Productions

Dot The T Productions is a professional touring theatre production company based in Muskoka.
Its mandate is three-fold: to bring professional theatre to the residents of Muskoka and Parry
Sound; to create work for local professionals; and to provide a value-added experience for
organizations and businesses, by using their existing facilities as venues for "pop-up" theatre.
A life-long love of theatre, many years of experience in the community, and the savvy recognition that Muskoka/Parry Sound is home to a large number of theatre professionals led Jan Jacklin to
establish Dot The T Productions in 2017. Jan is the company’s Founder, Artistic Director and Producer. Jan recognized the frustration of local playwrights, directors, actors and technical specialists experience in having to travel outside the area to work. She saw the opportunity to create jobs right here, at home. Prior to the establishment of Dot The T, 85% of the artist’s
filling the rosters of the region’s three main theatre facilities did not reside here. That meant a large percentage of the revenue generated left the area too. Now, jobs are being created, and
salaries and production revenues are staying here. Local theatregoers now have the option of seeing their ticket costs fuel the local economy.
In addition to its mandate to provide local work for local professionals, Dot The T also tours the region - the only homegrown, Muskoka/Parry Sound professional theatre company to do so. By means of hitting the road and taking theatre to audiences across the two Districts and beyond, Dot The T has overcome the limitations inherent in a one-location company; a permanent
theatre venue can only satisfy a small portion of our area’s full-time residents.
This combination of market awareness and workforce recognition has already established Dot The T as a prominent player in the “outside Toronto” professional theatre scene. With established artistic roots in the community, Jan Jacklin spent over five years successfully building the Huntsville Community Theatre Company. During that time the Company staged 35
shows/events, enlisted over 130 annual subscribers and attracted an average of 350 attendees per production. That experience has been invaluable in planning, implementing and promoting the next logical step - Muskoka/Parry Sound’s own Dot The T Productions. A strong believer in the power of partnerships, Jan continues to work with established community arts organizations and is constantly building new alliances - tapping into businesses, organizations and
associations for joint ventures, support and audience development.
