Engineering starts with why

Hi there, my name is Anne Chauvin, M.Sc., P.Eng.

I have a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in chemical engineering. I am a woman engineer with 10 years of experience. I have worked mostly in the water industry as commercial & process engineer, and proposal leader. As a woman engineer, I know the challenge of striving to do everything “right”, fit in, and be accepted. It starts at home and in school, then continues in the workplace.

I have seen so many of us, women engineers, spend a lifetime striving to do things perfectly.
Meanwhile, our social conditioning and gender biased programming run our inner critical thoughts on autopilot…

“When I have more experience,
when I take another course,
when I build the right network,
when I get the right sponsor,
when I fight people’s biases,
when I learn to be more assertive,
when I get the right manager,
when I get the right job, etc.,
… I will be good enough.”

Because of our social conditioning and gender biased programming, our thoughts about ourselves are stuck in “not good enough” land, no matter how much we do.

The thing is: our mindset doesn’t catch up “automatically” with the wealth of knowledge and experience and value we accumulate over the years. We have to intentionally work on our mindset to level up with ourselves.

This is why I decided to get a coach in 2020: I was tired of feeling not good enough... to ask for what I want, to say “no”, to negotiate for myself, to promote my ideas, to make confident decisions…

In just a few months, mindset coaching has radically changed the way I view myself, it has tuned down my inner critic, and improved my self-confidence. I am no longer playing small, I ask for what I want more often, I say “no” more often, I negotiate for myself, I promote my ideas more, and I make more confident decisions...

Mindset coaching is too good to keep a secret. So during the pandemic, I decided to get certified as a coach and to start my own coaching business Engineering starts with why to offer mindset coaching for women engineers.

As a coach, I want to help women engineers level up with themselves too, so they can finally lead themselves and others - without feeling like they are not good enough.

My Free decision-making workshop is an introduction to the confident mindset that has helped me and will help you make more confident decisions in your life and career.

I hope to see you there!

Anne
