Feed the Need in Durham believes it’s not right for anyone to go hungry. No one has a chance of fulfilling their potential if they are hungry. This is especially true for children – all of whom deserve an equal start in life. Feed the Need in Durham makes a real difference each year for over 30,000 low income people who do not have enough to eat. 11,000 of them (38%) are children.
FTND provides a unique service to meet a compelling need. In 2014, it supplied fresh, nutritious food (fruits, vegetables, milk, bread and yogurt) and non-perishable food, as well as selected non-food items (personal hygiene items, baby diapers, detergent, etc.) to 51 emergency food providers (food banks, meal programs, social service agencies and shelters) across Durham Region.
Feed the Need in Durham distributes over 120,000 lbs of perishable and non-perishable food items a month to reach people in need across the Region.
