From The Hearth

I am grateful for the opportunity to share this digital space with you!

My name is Tara (she/her); I am a Yoga philosophy teacher and the creator of From The Hearth.

My vision is an uprising of The One Person Revolution, where every human being has the freedom to choose to take effective self-responsibility. As such, my offerings center on empowering clients to take charge of, and be responsible for, their own life.

What sets my work apart is the integration of Yoga philosophy with core concepts from Jyotiṣa (Vedic Astrology).

Jyotiṣa provides you with a timing system - an understanding of what karmas might be activated within you based on the planetary positions in the sky. This informs all of my offerings as I work with the themes of the cosmic cycles to address what might be especially alive in you in the present moment.

Another important and unique aspect of my offerings is my emphasis on creating trauma-sensitive spaces; I want to create room for you to (re)connect with your body and yourSelf.

Expressions of Yoga philosophy that I share include a harmony of Nonviolent Communication, Somatic Movement, and Prāṇāyāma (yogic breathing).

I have completed 500 certified hours in Yoga studies, and am currently in the midst of completing 175 continuing education hours. I am also in the process of becoming a Certified trainer in Nonviolent Communication. You can find out more about my experience here.

I was born at the intersection of two rivers on Treaty 1 Territory – the land of the Michif Piyii (Métis), Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ and Souix (endonym Očhéthi Šakówiŋ) First Nations, so called Winnipeg, MB Can.

I currently reside on the unceded territory of the Semiahmoo, sc̓əwaθenaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsawwassen), S’ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō), Kwantlen, and Á,LEṈENEȻ ȽTE (W̱SÁNEĆ) First Nations, so called Langley, BC Can.

I am in a white body which is non-disabled and neurotypical, which was assigned female at birth. I grew up in a middle class family with access to generational wealth, and was born as an uninvited settler on, and citizen of, so called Canada with English as my first language. I have a post secondary education. I identify as genderqueer. My ACEs score is 1. I hold an incredible amount of unearned privilege at the intersection of my identities; as such, I will always be an unlearner.

You can read more about me and my story here.

I look forward to connecting with you!

With love,

Tara
