Jelena Vasic | MetaMovt

Jelena Vasic, M.Ed.

Jelena is an educator, independent interdisciplinary scholar-practitioner, dancer, and movement facilitator. With a background in contemporary dance and multiple somatic modalities (yoga, capoeira, qigong), Jelena has been exploring and deepening her understanding of movement, subtle anatomy, and somatic intelligence through a variety of lenses.

Jelena holds a Master of Education in Adult Education and Community Development from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). She is also trained in the Graham technique and is a certified yoga teacher. As a life-long learner, she continues to explore and be fascinated by the interconnection between body, mind, and movement. In addition to her studies, she is presently conducting an independent research project, Metamorphosis Through Movement, which explores the transformative power of dance. She has presented her research at festivals and conferences in Canada, Croatia, and Hawai'i.

After teaching in a formal education sector in Canada and abroad for nearly two decades, Jelena left her most recent teaching post at the University of Toronto in 2019 to pursue and share her passion for movement full time. She teaches movement-based classes and workshops that integrate her academic background in transformative and embodied learning with her yoga and Eastern philosophy studies.
