About Kat
"My mission? To create fun & friendly spaces where people learn to make music together. Drumming is a community activity. You'll learn about yourself & experience the human connections we all crave. This class may very well turn out to be your very first steps on The Drummer's Path... Where it leads is up to you." ~ Kat the Drumming Diva

  • In her group drumming classes, Kat has taught dozens of people to drum since she started teaching in April 2009.
  • Kat's passion for all things rhythmic have lead her on a decade-long journey all over the world. Kat studied drum circle facilitation in Hawaii under the father of the modern drum circle, Arthur Hull, author of "Drum Circle Spirit".
  • Kat's journey took her to Cuba to study Afro-Cuban percussion with Joaquin Hidalgo.
  • Kat's passion for rhythm inspired her to create an award-winning radio show featuring global percussion called :::the first sound::: on 100.3SoundFM. Almost 10 years ago, Kat co-founded the Organic Groove all-percussion performing group. They perform at festivals & events all over.
  • Kat facilitates rhythm workshops for people of all ages & abilities, from corporate events to special needs populations.
  • Kat is the founder of the KW region's longest-running drum circle: The Thursday Night Drum Circle in Victoria Park in Kitchener. In 2012 the circle turns 9 years old!
  • Kat also leads creative arts workshops (drumming + arts&crafts). She believes creative expression is a healthy part of a balanced life AND essential to helping us find our true & authentic selves.
