Keith Swinton, Employer Liaison, IRCC
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has created a network of Employer Liaison positions located in regional CIC offices across Canada (Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Halifax). The role of the Employer Liaisons is to provide Canadian employers and potential clients with useful and up-to-date information on Canada’s permanent economic immigration programs. The Employer Liaisons’ primary goal is to increase awareness of the opportunities these programmes present, as well as to facilitate linkages between Canadian employers and skilled labour overseas. They also work to coordinate the immigration promotion and recruitment activities of Canadian diplomatic offices overseas with the labour needs of employers in Canada. Apart from employers, the Employer Liaisons also collaborate with other stakeholders and interested parties such as provincial and municipal authorities, chambers of commerce, regional economic development agencies, educational institutions, and so on.
