Founded in 2013, NorthYork Moms grew from a group of 10 moms to a group of over 1800 moms to date. Since it’s inception, the group has valued the importance of both virtual and in-person community.
The purpose of the group is to connect moms locally for sharing resources, support and friendship. As a first time mother, Lily Cheng realized she needed a village to help raise her child. However, looking around the concrete jungle that surrounded her, she didn’t know where to start. After launching this group, moms have come out of the woodwork, connecting, supporting and meeting up. The group is truly a collaborative effort built on the contributions of many amazing women. North York Moms hosts a monthly Late Night Mommies Book Club, monthly Mom’s Night Out, and weekly meet-ups in the North York area. We have also hosted regular large potluck gatherings to celebrate Halloween, Christmas and Spring. We look forward to celebrating our two year anniversary with a pizza picnic on August 30.
We believe that the more empowered and connected we are as moms and families, the better our kids will be raised - resulting in a better future for our society.
