Reaching Out Assisting Refugees

Reaching Out Assisting Refugees (ROAR) is a community group based on Vancouver Island which resettles LGBTQ refugees from around the world who face serious persecution.

LGBTQ refugees resettled to Vancouver Island can make a new beginning and experience freedom. ROAR sponsorship groups support and work directly with newcomers both before and after they arrive in Canada. Our board is active in the community, organizing educational and fundraising activities to further our work.

ROAR is a completely volunteer-run group. We partner with Brechin United Church in Nanaimo and work cooperatively with Vancouver's Rainbow Refugee.
