Shakespeare by the Sea Festival
The Shakespeare By The Sea Festival produces and promotes artistic works with a focus on William Shakespeare. The Festival is the longest running outdoor summer theatre event in the St. John's area, celebrating 30 years in the area in 2023!
To support our festival, consider donating to our $30 for 30 campaign! Our 2023 season lineup features two of Shakespeare's most celebrated works, as well as an original workshop production by an emerging Newfoundland and Labradorian playwright. Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Cheney Emberg, will play six performances at the Cabot 500 Amphitheatre in Bowring Park. Picnic in the Backyard, by Bailey Jackson and directed by Noah Sheppard, will perform in the downtown St. John's area. Romeo and Juliet will close out our festival, directed by Andrew Tremblett, at Harbourside Park, off of Water Street. Both Picnic in the Backyard and Romeo and Juliet are sponsored by Downtown St. John's, and are free to attend.
Shakespeare By The Sea Festival Inc. is a registered charity(No. 891781841RR0001) with the Canada Revenue Agency and is a proud member of the Shakespeare Theatre Association.
