Soroptimist International Thunder Bay

The Soroptimist International Thunder Bay club, the founders of the Friendship Gardens, work together to raise awareness of women’s issues and support education and training opportunities for women and girls. Each year we provide financial assistance through the Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women, to a woman who is a single mother or the financial head of her household and attending school full time. Many of these women have overcome substantial barriers to attend school and create a brighter future for themselves and their families.

The other key program SI Thunder Bay provides is the Dream It Be It: Career Support for girls who face obstacles to their future success. It provides girls with access to professional role models, career education and the resources to live their dreams. The topics covered include career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, overcoming obstacles to success and how to move forward after setbacks or failures.

In addition, the Soroptimist prepare comfort kits for homeless women, and fund raise to support charitable organizations that aid women and children. For more information on our group please visit our website at
