The Spinal Cord/Nerve Injury & Pain NeuroTeam was launched in April 2015 as part of the Neuro-Discovery framework within the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI). Co-led by Drs. Patrick Whelan and Chester Ho, this strategic initiative brings together both clinical and basic scientists in a multidisciplinary team approach to drive research translation. Through these efforts, we will advance our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of spinal cord injury, nerve injury and pain while taking advantage of cutting-edge technologies in neuroimaging, rehabilitation, neurostimulation and behavioural analysis. This integrated science-based foundation will ensure multidirectional knowledge transfer between all team members and will help propel evidence based research findings to the clinical setting with a goal of ultimately improving outcomes for individuals and the community.
