The BC Centre for Women in the Trades (BCCWITT) is a partnership of women from the trades, industry and labour committed to creating a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion in the trades and other under-represented sectors. BCCWITT aims to achieve this, and reduce barriers to the attraction, retention and advancement of women in the trades in British Columbia, through targeted supports and programs:
fostering regional and provincial networks of tradeswomen;
working with industry to shift the culture of discrimination, bullying, harassment; and
training and employment supports for women experiencing barriers to enter or advance their career in the trades.
BCCWITT is governed predominantly by women in the trades along with labour and industry partners.
The funding is provided by the Government of Canada through the Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Development Agreement, the Canada-British Columbia Workforce Development Agreement, as well as industry and labour partners.
