#ChangeTheNow - Georgian College

#ChangeTheNow started in 2018 as a region-wide Changemaking movement supported by Georgian College, Ashoka Canada and the Simcoe County District School Board. Today #ChangeTheNow brings together a global community inspiring them to create the meaningful change they would like to see. #ChangeTheNow continues on a unique experiential learning and work integrated learning program for students from K-College encouraging them to build the mindset that small acts can lead to big change and collaborations can turn into large scale system change. We believe students, educators, industry, and community can innovate together and spark diverse ideas to our communities greener, healthier, safer, stronger and more inclusive!

The #ChangeTheNow experience supports the development of core competencies around Changemaking, social innovation, future employability skills, community development, and global citizenship with engagement with students and educators from institutions around the world. Past and current participants leverage #CTN as an opportunity to;

• Practice Changemaking through major projects, capstones,experiential or work integrated learning opportunities
• Build their resumes and earn a Changemaker micro-certicate
• Get involved in the UN SDG’s and create an impact in our communities
• Develop in-demand employable skills such as shared leadership, teamwork, collaboration, and empathy
• Develop competencies in foresight, systems thinking, innovation and creativity

#ChangeTheNow, is supported by the Social Innovation department, part of Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Georgian College - Canada’s first and only Ashoka U Changemaker College. This support includes coaching interested educators, faculty, youth facilitators and leaders on how to use creative innovation frameworks such as human centred design thinking, systems thinking and compelling conversations to respond to the calls to action under the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
