To Van With Love

“We want to give this lesbian couple and their child a chance to live openly and authentically, without the fear of being persecuted or torn apart simply because of their sexual orientation."

- To Van With Love

We are six volunteers from all walks of life who have come together to form a circle of hope, name “To Van With Love”, to help bring a lesbian family safely to Vancouver.

Our refugee family was forced to flee from their home country over two years ago and are still in hiding today as they are foreigners living as refugees in another unaccepting country.  They are in constant danger of being persecuted for being a same sex couple and fear losing custody of their child.

Our purpose is to support the family’s application to Canada, raise enough funds for their first year in Vancouver and provide assistance to adjust to their new life in Canada.  While they wait for the application process they cannot work, have no access to healthcare and their child cannot get a proper education.

We feel the urgency and responsibility to help this family attain their dream of living in an accepting and safe community.  We feel so fortunate to be in the position we are in Canada where our basic human rights of being ourselves is recognized. This is just our way to pay it forward. We hope you will help us in our cause.  Click HERE to make an online donation.

Rainbow Refugee Society (RSS)

Our circle is being overseen by the Rainbow Refugee Society (RSS), a registered charity supported by the United Church of Canada. They work with the Canadian Government and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to bring LGBT refugees who are fleeing extreme persecution, imprisonment or death in their home countries into Canada as permanent residents.
