What is Massif?

The word is taken from French (in which the word also means "massive"), where it is used to refer to a large mountain mass or compact group of connected mountains forming an independent portion of a range.

Or, a compact group of psych, stoner, heavy, punk, metal, indie, and rock bands, all in a rad little town, which happens to hide deep in some hills in southern BC.

Inspired by hard working bands with big sound, and by festivals like Sled Island, we created Massif, a non-profit music festival with the sole purpose of bringing more rock to the Kootenays.
