The Alberta Soils Tour is an excellent training opportunity for those working with soils

The Alberta Soils Tour is an excellent training opportunity for those working with soils, whether the focus is soil conservation, land reclamation, or agronomy. Experts will provide background on soil formation and the various soil profiles for each of the landscapes encountered during the tour. The tour provides hands-on field opportunities for professional development, learning, and collaboration. In 2026, the Alberta Soils Tour will focus on typical soils of Southern Alberta, exploring the Palliser's Triangle:

- Brown and Dark Brown Chernozems,

- Brown Solonetz,

- sandy Brunisols, and

- Regosols on floodplain

The variety of parent materials covered will include glacial till, glaciolacustrine and aeolian sediments, as well as recent fluvial deposits.
