A Doctor’s Work: Reflections from Gaza - Talk & Fundraiser
Overview
You are warmly invited to a special community gathering: A Doctor's Work: Reflections from Gaza.
Join your community for an afternoon with Dr. Mel Brecknell, a frontline medical doctor who recently returned from providing critical care in Gaza.
In an intimate presentation at the Station on the Green in Creemore, Dr. Mel will share her experiences treating patients, supporting families, and working under unimaginable conditions. This is a rare opportunity to move beyond the headlines and connect with firsthand human stories from the ground.
Funds raised will directly support seven families in Gaza. Your generous contributions will provide essential aid such as:
- Emergency food, water, clothing and shelter repairs to get families through the winter season
- Medical supplies and trauma care for babies, children, and adults
- Vital psychological first aid
You can bring hope to families enduring immense hardship. Together, we are not helpless or hopeless. Young and old, let's come together to listen, learn, and extend our help this holiday season.
The event will include:
- A presentation and Q&A with Dr. Mel Brecknell
- A live interview between Palestinian aid worker Hanya Aljamal (Aidex Young Humanitarian of the Year 2025) and Avery Haines (W5, CTV News). Avery will be present in-person and reaching Hanya virtually.
- Community solidarity reception with light refreshments, courtesy of The Bank Café
- Resources to learn how your collective power can directly support Palestinians and families in Gaza
This is a locally-led event. Suggested minimum donation is $25/adult. However, no one will be turned away for lack of funds (every contribution makes a difference). For questions and to make a separate donation, contact us at adjtos-helps@proton.me. We welcome everyone and ask that all attendees attend with respect, openness, and kindness.
