A parenting education program focusing on essential skills and strategies for early childhood development

This 4 week workshop series will run weekly on Wednesday mornings January 7, 2026 - January 28, 2026.

Active Parenting: First Five Years is a multicultural, video-based program that aims to equip parents and caregivers with the knowledge and skills necessary to support the growth and development of young children. The program is structured into four sessions, each addressing key topics relevant to parenting during the early years:

  1. You and Your Child: This session covers parenting styles, stages of child development, and building a strong bond with your child.
  2. Preventing Problems: Focuses on understanding children's brain development and implementing nonviolent discipline strategies.
  3. Encouraging Positive Behavior: Discusses the power of encouragement, setting appropriate consequences, and self-care for caregivers.
  4. Preparing for School: Offers strategies to help young children transition into the school environment successfully.
