This course builds on the foundational skills from Basic Threat & Risk Assessment, focusing on factors that impact the threat assessment at each stage, advanced DTA techniques, strategic interviews, and practical application through interactive case scenarios and tabletops.

  • Review of Basic Threat & Risk Assessment
  • Common themes and considerations during steps 1, 2, and 3 of the Basic Threat & Risk Assessment
  • General understanding of issues to be considered to make an appropriate referral for external supports
  • Practice and refine skills in conducting strategic interviews
  • Language analysis during interviews
  • Legal and primary considerations for BDTA
  • Advanced DTA techniques to assess and manage risk
  • Assessing and responding to anonymous threats
  • Best practices when creating intervention/management and safety plans
  • Progress monitoring
  • Inventory of care support and services
  • Fully interactive case scenarios
