Exhibiting Forgiveness
Tarrell (André Holland), an artist on the road to success, whose life is disrupted by the return of his estranged, formerly abusive father, La’Ron (John Earl Jelks), who is desperate to reconcile. All this amid his mother’s (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor) declining health. As Tarrell grapples with resurfacing childhood traumas, the film explores themes of forgiveness, familial reconciliation and the complexities of healing. Exhibiting Forgiveness received critical acclaim for its authentic portrayal of intergenerational trauma and for the nuanced performances of its cast.
