Poetry, prose, and stories woven together for a passionate night of connection. Join us for performances by emerging poets, followed by a showcase of artist Robyn Sandhu’s finest lines. The works will explore themes of identity, migration, belonging, and the curious crusade of discovering oneself. Robyn's performance will be accompanied by an opening reading by practicing writer and poet, Preeti Dhaliwal. The performances will be accompanied by a fireside chat between Robyn and seasoned industry legend, Tarannum Thind.
About the artists
Robyn Sandhu
Robyn Sandhu is a singer, poet, and lyricist who came to Canada as an international student. He’s since achieved sensational virality on TikTok and Instagram by sharing his art. Sandhu has 81k monthly listeners on Spotify, 165k subscribers on Youtube, and over 400k followers on TikTok.
Tarannum Thind
With over 15 years of experience in performing arts, broadcasting, and community involvement, Tarannum Thind is one of Vancouver’s most recognized South Asian media personalities. As a pioneer for not just women, but South Asians in broadcasting at large, Tarannum has brought her warmth, passion, and keen eye for story-telling to many South Asian homes in Vancouver and beyond. Tarannum is most known for her melodious voice and “speaking in tarannum”. With
a vibrant energy that allows her to connect with folks of all ages and generations, she’s got an incredible talent for making every single person she meets comfortable and at ease.
Preeti Dhaliwal
Preeti Kaur Dhaliwal (she/her) is a critical race feminist, writer, former lawyer, educator, child of immigrants and facilitator who grew up on the traditional territories of the Semiahmoo, Katzie, Kwikwetlem, Kwantlen, Qayqayt, Tsawwassen and Musqueam First Nations (colonially known as Surrey and North Delta, BC). With over 15 years of facilitation and teaching experience, Preeti is committed to arts-based methodologies as a source of personal and collective empowerment, transformation and community-building. She has taught creative writing at Guelph-Humber College, led arts-based workshops across Canada and the US, and firmly believes that stories change the world by altering our ways of seeing, feeling and being with one another.
