Join Annette Knopp for a special presentation of her new memoir Mystic Nomad: A Woman's Wild Journey to True Connection.
Mystic Nomad opens with Annette, at 29, leaving her fiancé and career in Spain to begin a wide-ranging search for meaning that reshapes her life. Her journey unfolds through ashrams in India, nightclubs in Japan, opal mines in the Australian outback, and shamanic ceremonies in Peru—leading to profound awakenings as well as devastating betrayals, including sexual assault by a trusted mentor that shatters her faith. With unsparing honesty, the memoir illuminates both the pearls and perils of the spiritual path, exposing the pitfalls of guru culture while sharing hard-earned wisdom about trauma, healing, and authentic wholeness. From the shadows of postwar German childhood to opening a retreat center in Costa Rica, Mystic Nomad charts a courageous path toward a life rooted in clarity, compassion, and presence.
“Mystic Nomad invites us to open to the deep nature of who we truly are… The personal becomes the universal in these wise and poetic reflections on an awakened life. What a gift for us all.”
—Daniel J. Siegel, MD
“This beautifully written and brave spiritual memoir… is a must-read for anyone on the path of awakening.”
—Roshi Joan Halifax
