Año Viejo- CRAFT+BURN A Colombian effigy making workshop

Diciembre puede ser tan difícil, sobre todo cuando estamos lejos de casi todo lo que amamos – por eso te queremos invitar a compartir, reír, tal vez llorar un poquitin y crear juntes en este Taller de Muñecos de Año Viejo con mi ami @boleros_boleros el 19 de diciembre de 6 a 9 PM en The Playground Studios, 108 E Broadway.

Juntes haremos muñequitos de año nuevo para que te lleves el tuyo a casa, lo llenes de intención y lo quemes en Año Nuevo como un ritual de cierre y transformación.

Usaremos materiales pensados especialmente para poder quemarlos de forma segura, como telas de algodón, botones de madera y aserrín para el relleno.

Los $15 dólares incluye todos los materiales, comidita pa’ picar y bebidas. No necesitas experiencia, solo tu corazón con nostalgia y tus ganas de soltar lo que ya no sirve.

the holidays can be hard, especially when you are far from home – join us for an Año Viejo Effigy Making Workshop on December 19 from 6 to 9 PM at @the_playgroundstudio

From Colombia and across South America, Año Viejo is a New Year tradition where people create a doll that holds what they want to leave behind from the old year and then burn it to welcome protection and renewal.

We will make small effigies together that you can take home to bless with your intentions and burn on New Year’s Eve as a ritual of letting go.

All materials sourced can be safely burned, including cotton fabrics, wood buttons and beads, and sawdust for filling. Cost is $15 dollars with all materials, traditional Colombian snacks + drinks included. No experience is needed, just your heart, your memories of home, and your desire to release what no longer serves you.
