Art Night In: Creating a Miniature World With Isometric Art

Art Night In: Creating a Miniature World With Isometric Art

Overview

Get ready to unleash your inner artist with a fun evening of creativity - no experience required!

Even if you don't recognize the term "isometric" you've definitely seen charming art in this style, which is often used in illustration, graphics, and games. Isometric art makes two-dimensional images appear three-dimensional in a very unique way that grants them a miniaturized characteristic. With some simple step-by-step instruction, we will create an isometric grid, and then use it to illustrate a miniature world and bring it to life with natural features, plants, animals, and people.

Materials:

To enjoy hands-on participation of this program, please try to have the following list of materials available. If you do not have access to the materials, you are still welcome to follow along and enjoy.

  • Pencils / erasers
  • Coloured pencils or markers as desired
  • A ruler and a protractor (or any tool that can help create a 30* angle on a piece of paper) OR use the printable grid template provided (attached). If these options are unavailable to you, then save the image of two 30 degree angles on your phone and use this, along with a ruler to create 30 degree lines. Sebastien will walk you through this method during the class.
