Description
The UBC Asian Canadian and Asian Migration Studies (ACAM) program is hosting a public event on Asian Canadian Representation and Media, featuring a Q&A with Simu Liu, an actor best known for his role as Jung on CBC's Kim's Convenience. This event is built upon the program's new course ACAM 250: The Idea of 'Asian Canadian' in Popular Culture, taught by Professor John Paul (JP) Catungal, and is a part of ACAM5, a year long series of events to mark the program's fifth anniversary.
Speaker
Simu Liu is an actor, writer and producer best known for his role as Jung on the hit CBC comedy Kim's Convenience. He is an ACTRA Award Winner as well as a Canadian Screen Award and Dora Award Nominee. His past credits include major roles on NBC's Taken, OMNI's Blood and Water and most recently the digital series YAPPIE created by Wong Fu Productions. Simu develops many of his own projects through his production company 4:12 Entertainment, named after the day he was laid off from his job as an accountant.

Due to the limited room capacity, registration is required to attend this event. This event is free and open to all.
Access
- Paths leading to the venue are concrete sidewalk. There is an automatic door location on the East side of the building, accessible by ramp. For those in wheelchairs, there are designated spots available. - Seating is fixed tablets with cushioned seats.
