Beginner Gouache Class (3 sessions) with artist Judy Ormshaw

Gouache is a water soluble paint that can be used like watercolour, but in this course we will be using it with a more creamy consistency. The paint is highly pigmented and dries to a nice matt opaque finish. It is more suitable for smaller paintings when used in this way.

This course will teach the properties of gouache as a painting medium. Three small paintings will be produced, a fruit still life, an animal, and finally a landscape, all with opportunities to experiment along the way.

Judy Ormshaw is a multidisciplinary artist working with gouache and acrylic paint, a form of collage which she calls 'paper mosaic' and fibre arts including quilting and rug hooking, but she is willing to try anything and has worked in many mediums over the years.

As a special bonus, participants will also take home their own gouache paint set, so the learning and creativity can continue beyond the classroom.
