BIPOC GRIEF IN THE WORKPLACE
By Kalyce Carter & Carmen Galvan
Online event
Overview
Join us as we discuss how capitalism, working and workplaces can cause and complicate grief for racialized/BIPOC folks.
Grief does not live in a vacuum. We are often experiencing multiple forms of grief, loss and bereavement all at once, and many are invalidated and pathologized. The workplace can be a space to build community and a sense of purpose but often, specifically for BIPOC/racialized/global majority folks, it can be a space of grief, violence and trauma. This is a space for folks to be able to discuss the ways in which working and workplaces have impacted and caused grief, without the need to "clean up the messiness" of the feelings or find a silver lining to the experience. This is a supportive space where people are not obligated to speak or be on camera unless they wish to.
