Overview

A DIVERSEcity signature event in the City of Surrey to learn, connect and celebrate with the Black community

For 2026, we’re kicking off Black History Month with our fourth annual event on February 6, 2026, in Surrey, BC.

Formerly known as Black in BC, the event now continues under its refreshed name, Black Brilliance in BC.

This celebration features inspirational speakers, food, music and dance, bringing more than 200 guests from Surrey and Metro Vancouver to celebrate Black talent, cultures and achievements in Canada, while creating space for connection and learning.

Highlights

We are pleased to welcome former Poet Laureate of New Westminister, Elliott Slinn, to guide our event featuring:

  • An inspirational panel discussion featuring local Black leaders
  • Music and dance entertainment

  • Black Brilliance Awards - nominate someone before January 6, 2026!
