Breaking the Seal: Drag King & Thing Open Stage
Overview
Come help these new Kings & Things BREAK THE SEAL on their drag careers!
Breaking the Seal is an open-stage drag launchpad for aspiring Kings & Things to strut, thrust, and cartwheel into the spotlight with mentorship and support from seasoned performers. On January 17, a fresh lineup of incredible new artists will debut their drag personas right here in MONCTON, backed by some of the provinces most experienced talent. This isn’t just a show, it’s a drag origin story in the making!
When you buy a ticket, you’re not just getting a night of fierce performances, you’re directly supporting queer arts and emerging artists who face real barriers to entering the scene. 100% of ticket sales and tips go straight to the performers, paying them for their time, labour, and artistry so they can keep growing their drag.
To lift up new talent, the producer/host, and venue are volunteering their time & space
AND THERE’S MORE: This event is Pay What You Can, so no one is turned away (19+). You can even buy a ticket as a donation for someone else: because drag is better when everyone gets in.
💸 E-transfer: Moe Mustacherides at cnightingale@live.ca (note that it is a PWYC for Breaking the Seal)
Suggested PWYC: $12 (every dollar makes a difference!)
At its core, Breaking the Seal exists to grow diverse representation in New Brunswick's drag scene by supporting the under-represented artists (Kings & Things), as well as artists from equity deserving groups. We are committed to safer spaces, bullying, harassment, and discrimination have no place here. All guests & artists are expected to bring respect, kindness, and good vibes only.
Come cheer, come scream, come witness the birth of some brand-new drag legends (who knows, you might be meeting the furture Mr/Mx Lobster Roll).
