Clean Water Kickoff! at Patagonia Toronto │ Swim Drink Fish
Date and time
Come celebrate World Oceans Day with an evening of learning and conversation about all things water!
About this event
On June 8th, we invite you to join us at the Clean Water Kickoff! We’ll be hosting events in Vancouver, Kingston and Toronto to talk about all things water stewardship, connection, and protection.
We'll be serving drink and light fare to go along with the evening, and giving away some Swim Drink Fish merch!
We’ll be joined by:
- Rochelle Bryne the Executive Director and Founder of A Greener Future
- Jordan-na Belle-Isle: Year-round Great Lakes paddleboarder, Paddle Canada instructor , writer, Community Builder, Team member for Taiga Board and co-rganizer for Lake Surfistas
- Robin Pacquing: Local Filipina SUPsurfer and Ontario Surf pioneer, Co-Founder of Lake Surfistas, Instructor, Realtor, and lifelong resident of the shore along Lake Ontario
- UofT Trash Team’s Rafaela F. Gutierrez: Social Sciences and Educational Programs Program Lead
These water stewardship leaders from our community will start off the event sharing their stories of stewardship, protection and engagement in support of clean and accessible water in and around Toronto.
Swim Drink Fish is also launching our 2021 hub monitoring reports! We'll be sharing our complete results from past seasons and recommendations for how to make Toronto more swimmable, drinkable and fishable.
Following presentations , we’ll be using the world cafe method to discuss the state of our local waters. We'll have a series of small group round table discussions where speakers and community members will come together to share perspectives and learn about our water.
This event is an opportunity for active participation! We’re hoping to use the ideas fostered during these discussions to inform our work going forward. Putting the community into community science.
we invite anyone and everyone from the community to join us (regardless of where you are in your water literacy journey- we want to hear from you!)
Don’t have time to make it to the event but still want to get involved? We’ll also be hosting two virtual orientation and training sessions on June 3rd and 9th to get you oriented to our field work and ready to join us in the field as community scientists for the upcoming water monitoring season!
This event is being generously hosted at the Patagonia Store in Toronto
